Preliminary notes

A domain is a name that uniquely identifies a website's address on the internet. If your company wants to have a presence on the internet, you need to secure your name or brand by registering one or more web addresses. This way, your company's website will be found online under the name you choose, and your email addresses will also have the same suffix, e.g., . This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

You can register different types of addresses including .it, .eu, .com, .net, .org, .us, .biz.

The choice often depends on how you want to characterize your company on the Internet, whether in Italy or internationally.

The name you choose cannot be longer than 26 characters or shorter than 3. All symbols of the alphabet, numbers from 0 to 9 and only the "-" (minus sign) are accepted.

Register domains of interest in advance

This prevents you from having to incur legal fees and waste time requesting reassignment. Domain reassignment is never a given because:

  • - Identical trademarks belonging to different classes that are not likely to be confused with each other can coexist. Whoever registers first retains the web domain.

  • - If the domain name is descriptive of the products and services offered, it often coexists with other identical and/or confusingly similar domains with different extensions and different graphic trademarks.

The main domains that should always be blocked are: .it .com .eu (community domain) and then .org .net. For example, in the case of the domain tuomarchio.com, a legal registration in the U.S. would be necessary, with less certainty of success if you do not have an international and/or national U.S. trademark.

We provide an advanced service for companies that need to register multiple national domains in their own name to protect their online image and brand from fraudulent use that seeks to exploit the notoriety of others to gain access to redirect to their own websites.

There are currently over 280 web domain extensions. Domain registration allows for online brand protection, immediately blocking improper online use and saving time and money on legal action to obtain domain reassignment.

It's important to note that for a .com domain, legal action must be taken in the United States, with the associated costs. There are as many legal actions as there are countries of interest that own the domains. There are also national domains whose registration must be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Some national domains require a company headquarters in the country, and each country has its own rules regarding registration, reassignment, and annual tax payments. A complementary strategy is to register domains similar or identical to the primary domain to prevent its improper use (defensive domains).

Our staff will assist you with an analysis of your current situation, the selection of the most interesting domains, and all the necessary procedures for registration and advice on how to recover them.
